Himeno Awayuki è una tranquilla ragazza di sedici anni il cui unico desiderio è quello di poter vivere una vita normale e felice, soprattutto dopo la morte della madre e il nuovo matrimonio del padre con una donna molto ricca, che li ospita nella sua enorme villa. Intanto, la Principessa dei disastri Saihi sta inviando sulla Terra i propri semi del male per succhiare l'energia vitale di tutte le creature viventi. Per scongiurare la catastrofe, sette cavalieri, i Riphe Knight, si mettono alla ricerca della Pretear, una principessa dotata di poteri magici in grado di generare nuovi riphe, la fonte della vita. Proprio Himeno si rivelerà essere la Pretear: insieme ai Riphe Knight, dovrà sconfiggere Saihi.
