Protagonista di Ore-tachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai —under the innocent sky è un ragazzo affetto da una grave forma di schizofrenia, il cui ego è composto da diverse personalità che si 'animano' in momenti diversi della giornata: una la mattina, durante la scuola, una la sera, e una la notte. Ognuna di esse frequenta una particolare zona della città di Yanagihara, incontrando persone di ogni tipo, ignare del fatto che alcuni eventi del passato impediscono alla vera personalità del ragazzo di guardare in faccia la realtà, preferendo 'creare' finte personalità destinate a prendersi cura del suo corpo.
